At Tiffin Motorhomes, we go beyond conventional chassis construction with additional structural reinforcement designed to improve strength, consistency, and long-term fit and finish. Our horizontal and vertical cross brace assemblies are a distinctive part of the Tiffin approach, providing added support where it matters most.

Horizontal cross braces are installed between the anti-camber rails and help maintain a consistent wheelbase. Rear-engine pusher chassis naturally experience significant camber toward the rear, which can shorten the overall wheelbase by several inches. While anti-camber rails help control this movement, additional reinforcement may be needed.
The horizontal cross braces provide added support to reduce camber and help maintain a more consistent wheelbase throughout the chassis.

Vertical cross braces are installed between the down posts connecting the trusses to the basement structure. Their purpose is to reduce racking, or side-to-side movement, within the basement structure.
Reducing this movement helps maintain structural alignment and can minimize warping and sealing issues around basement compartment doors.
Working Together
The horizontal and vertical cross brace assemblies work together to create a stiffer, more dimensionally consistent chassis structure. Each applicable chassis incorporates three horizontal cross braces and four vertical cross braces, providing additional reinforcement where it is needed most.
