Baylee Tiffin, the wife to Tiffin Motorhomes’ President Leigh Tiffin and mother to their two children also serves as a Pilates and Spin Instructor. She runs an Instagram and Facebook account, rv_fit_yet, where she shares content on all things health and RV-related! She has put together several tips that not only assist her but can also aid you in maintaining a healthy lifestyle while enjoying life on the road in their motorhomes.
Tip 1: Utilize the Outdoors
Use the space around you! When at campgrounds use their trails to bike, walk, run, and soak up some Vitamin D (don’t forget your sunscreen.) Being outdoors for just 30 minutes a day can improve mental and physical health.
Tip 2: Finding the Right RV Campground
Baylee states that they like to find campgrounds that help them achieve their health and fitness goals. Pavilion covered, walking trails, playground. They enjoy campgrounds with covered pavilions to help assist when it is raining, walking trails to get their cardio in, and even using playgrounds in some workout routines. Monkey Bars can be a great area to do pull-ups;)
Tip 3: Bring Portable
Exercise Equipment with you
A Tiffin is built sturdy, so utilize its strength and storage space to your advantage. Equipment-free workouts, including step-ups on the entry steps, pull-ups on the side mirrors, bench dips, and incline push-ups in the basement area, are great! For minimal equipment workouts, consider ankle weights for your wrist or ankles during walks, incorporate dumbbells for extra resistance, and utilize workout bands for functional training and strengthening muscles. Yoga mats for floor-based exercises like ab workouts are also beneficial. The Tiffin’s personal favorite is the weighted vest, which is great for enhancing endurance, building muscle, improving balance, and more!
Tip 4: Nutrition
It is so important to plan ahead for road trips. Pre-packing healthy meals for your trip will save you time and stress when it comes time to eat and having everything prepared so you don’t have to eat out is a game changer! Preparing healthy snacks makes traveling easier and being healthy less of a struggle on the go. Containers of nuts and fruits are great for maintaining balance and pairing them with slices of meat is great for that added protein which will help stop unwanted cravings. A good tip is to eat the rainbow which can include apples, carrots, oranges, grapes, bananas, broccoli, and more!
Tip 5: Stay Hydrated
& Rested
Staying hydrated is vital to your health, as it plays a key role in many of our body’s functions. Stocking up your motorhome’s fridge and coolers with plenty of water is great for road trips and long stays. One of Baylee’s favorite supplements to add to her water for added electrolytes is LMNT, which contains zero sugar compared to popular electrolyte beverages. Adding fruit to your water is a great way to change the taste if you get bored of plain water!
Rest is another important factor in our body’s health. Creating a cozy space in your motorhome is worth it when it is time to lie down and get well-deserved rest at the end of each day. You don’t want to compromise your road safety by driving tired. Allowing our bodies time to rest helps manage stress levels, lower blood pressure, repair sore muscles, and boost your immune system. Without proper rest, our bodies will not function properly!
Tip 6: Rejuvenation
Baylee’s last tip is to remember that the RV lifestyle should be rejuvenating, full of low stress, leisure, mindfulness, and spending time with people you love! After all, rejuvenation is what keeps your mind healthy and young.
Healthy living is a lifestyle as well as RVing and combining the two can lead to a balance that nourishes both the heart and mind. This enhances your adventurous lifestyle and makes it even more enjoyable! Check out Baylee’s social media @rv_fit_yet to see all the tips and tricks she has for maintaining health while on the road!
