*It should be noted that all of the incredible astrophotography and time-lapse video was provided by Charlie Warren.
Starting at the age of 12, Charlie Warren’s family lived on a boat in Miami, Florida. Each summer, they'd cast off the lines and cruise in the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands. Back then there was no such thing as GPS so they had to navigate the old fashion way - by the stars. They would sit out on the deck for hours, gazing up at the beautiful night sky and the Milky Way overhead. Towards the end of the summer, he and his family would see the Perseids meteor shower. Looking back, he believes that’s probably where his love for astronomy really began.
As the years went by, Charlie bought himself a simple telescope, but as his interest in the stars grew, his wife Margie bought him a computerized telescope. That was a game changer. Today, Charlie is the editor of Amateur Astronomy magazine, and he and his wife, Margie, travel the country together in their Allegro RED, photographing and following the most exquisite stars in the dark sky.
